Forgiveness

Take a potato and write on it the name of a person who has fallen from grace with you. Do this for everyone who has ever made you made you mad, hurt you, upset you, those that have wronged you and you have never forgave.

When you finished, gather them all together and place them in a sack. Keep this sack next to you at all times. Take it with you to work, to lunch, everywhere you go. And always, always have it at home with you.

How long would it take before you start to grow tired of carrying this sack of potatoes?

How long before those potatoes sprout into other things, nasty things, festering and starting to smell?

Wouldn't it be nice to free yourself from the weight, stench and constant reminder of hurt, betrayal, disappointment, heartache and anger?

By hanging onto the very things that are unpleasant, we tend to create more of the same for ourselves. And chances are that the other person, the one who we are mad at, hurt by and have let upset us, has never thought about it for quite some time.

When you forgive someone, and truly let it go, you free yourself. Forgiveness allows you to create peace in your life.

So grab your potatoes.
